A fire outbreak occurred yesterday at the Governor’s Office in Katsina State, damaging the Mini Chamber attached to the office.
Fortunately, firefighters from both Federal and State services were able to control the blaze before it spread to other parts of the building.
In response, Governor Umaru Radda has established a committee to investigate the outbreak a few hours after the incident.
The committee, comprised of high-ranking officials, has been tasked with determining the cause of the fire, assessing the damage, identifying lapses that led to the incident, and recommending measures to prevent future occurrences.
According to a statement issued by the director of press in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the State, Aliyu Yar’adua, the governor had expressed confidence in the eight-man committee’s ability to conduct a thorough investigation and provide valuable recommendations. The committee has been given a week to submit its report.
It added that the source of the fire is currently unknown, but the incident has raised concerns about the safety and security of government buildings in the state.
The investigation is expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the fire and help prevent similar incidents in the future.
The statement also stated that the Governor’s Office will provide the secretary for the committee.
The incident has sparked concern among the public, and the government has assured that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the safety and security of government properties.
