Nasarawa State Governor and chairman, North Central Governors Forum, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has congratulated Comrade Alhassan Yahaya on his emergence as the new national president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Governor Sule also hailed the peaceful process that led to the emergence of a new executive to run the affairs of the union for the next three years.

In a statement signed by Mr. Ibrahim Addra, his press secretary and made available to journalists in Lafia yesterday, Governor Sule expressed confidence in Yahaya’s ability  to propel NUJ to greater heights.

He said the role of journalists was more profound today as the nation continued to navigate and find solutions to its development challenges.

The governor called for unity of purpose and support for the new exco to enable it discharge its responsibilities efficiently.

“Journalists are partners in development that have continued to make significant contributions to public discourse and serve as an important feedback mechanism between governments and the citizens and so deserve our collective accolades and support,” he said.
