Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has called on Nigerians to come together to tackle terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, stressing that security requires the joint effort of both citizens and government.

Speaking in Lafia, Sule described peace and security as the foundation of a prosperous society.

“Our ability to live, work, worship, educate our children and chase our goals depends on how safe and stable our communities are,” he said.

He acknowledged that Nigeria continues to face threats from terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes, but said national unity is key to defeating them.

Sule commended President Bola Tinubu for ramping up military operations, strengthening intelligence gathering, investing in security infrastructure, and improving coordination among agencies — moves he said are already showing results.

In Nasarawa, the governor said the state government is complementing federal efforts by providing logistics to security agencies, bolstering community security, encouraging intelligence sharing, and working closely with traditional and religious leaders. The state has also invested in early warning systems to improve response times.

Still, he stressed that government and security forces cannot do it alone.

“Every citizen has a role. We must stay vigilant and report suspicious movements, strange activities, or anyone threatening our peace,” Sule said.

He urged residents to reject extremism, criminality, and anything that divides communities. “Terrorists thrive in secrecy. They win when communities stay silent. But when citizens cooperate with security agencies, criminals lose their hiding places.”

Sule also called for unity across ethnic, religious, and political lines. “Nasarawa State is bigger than any individual or group interest. Together, we can protect the peace that makes development possible,” he added.

Echoing President Tinubu, he concluded: “Let’s unite against terror. If you see something, say something.”
