Born in Zaria in September 1935, Dabo Sambo, began his exemplary career during the colonial era as a typist in the Zaria Central Office.

The late Sambo rose through the ranks and served Nigeria in various capacities – such as administrator of the Kaduna Capital Territory, former capital of the then Northern Nigerian Government in the 1960s.
In a condolence message issued by Governor Uba Sani’s chief press secretary, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, he said, “With total submission to the will of Allah (SWT),Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani on Monday 13th March 2024,received the news of the death of Alhaji Abbas Dabo Sambo, who was a respected elder statesman and one of Northern Nigeria’s pioneer and most cherished public servants.

“On behalf of the people of Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani has extended his deepest condolences to the family and has called for prayers from well-meaning Nigerians for the family during this difficult time. May Allah (SWT) grant him Jannat-ul-Firdaus and forgive his sins,” the statement said.
