Enugu State governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has commended the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for the professionalism it has brought to bear on the conduct of its affairs.
Ugwunyi, who spoke when he commissioned ICPC Prototype complex in Enugu State, expressed happiness on the track records of the ICPC so far.
“I commend you for this landmark achievement on the occasion of the official commissioning of ICPC prototype office complex for Enugu State.
“I commend the ICPC, the Nigerian first anti-corruption agency for the professionalism it has brought to bear on the conduct of its affairs. We are proud of the track records of the ICPC.
“I’m happy to identify with this foremost national institution in this auspicious occasion”, he said.
The governor noted that in the past years, his administration had leveraged on the due diligence and competence of the ICPC in the conduct of government business through advisory services and anti-corruption trainings for government officials and top civil servants in the state.
“This has positively impacted the state’s compliance with due process imperative in its governance processes.
“We rejoice with the ICPC as it formally commences its operations in its new prototype office building for Enugu State after 17 years of operations from its former rented temporary office building.
“It is therefore our profound honour to commission the new magnificent ICPC prototype office building for Enugu State to the glory of God and for more impactful anti-corruption crusade,” Ugwuanyi said.
Earlier, the chairman of ICPC, Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN, described the office complex as the first of its kind in the Southeast geopolitical zone, adding that the event was a tribute to the fight against corruption in Enugu State and a testament to what can be accomplished when state governments cooperate with and complement the efforts of the federal government and its agencies in realising their mandates within their areas of coverage.
Owasanoye, who was represented by a member of the ICPC board, Obiora Igwedibia, gave credit to Governor Ugwuanyi for making the edifice possible in 2018 through the allocation of a choice landed property on which now stands the building.
