Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of Dr. Suleiman Wali Sani, as his new Chief of Staff.
A statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, revealed the decision to restore the Office of the Chief of Staff after it was scrapped in December 2024, saying it was part of the ongoing efforts by the governor to strengthen governance and service delivery in Kano State.
Dr. Sani, a veteran medical doctor and policy expert, previously served as Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service Matters. With over four decades of public service, his experience spans top administrative positions across the health and commerce sectors. He has also served as Chief Medical Director of both the Murtala Muhammad and Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Specialist Hospitals in the State.
A graduate of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Dr. Sani holds MB, BS degrees and a diploma from Bayero University, Kano. He is also a member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.
In a related development, Governor Yusuf has also named retired Major General Mohammed Sani as the Director General, Special Services, Government House, Kano.
Maj. Gen. Sani (Rtd.), a decorated infantry officer, brings over 35 years of military service to the role. He held numerous key command and staff positions during his career and played critical roles in national security, peacekeeping missions, and conflict resolution initiatives.
Both appointees are to assume duties with immediate effect.
