Governor Abba Yusuf has urged intending pilgrims from Kano State to conduct themselves in an orderly and responsible manner during the 2026 hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The governor donated 200 Saudi Riyals to each pilgrim from the state as part of efforts to support them during the pilgrimage.

In a statement issued by the chief press secretary to the governor, Mustapha Muhammad, he said his principal made the appeal yesterday at the Kano Hajj Camp during a practical exercise for intending pilgrims.

Represented by the deputy governor, Murtala Garo, the governor said the pilgrims must serve as good ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria while in the Holy Land.

“You are going to a land where millions of Muslims from across the world gather. Let your conduct reflect discipline, humility, brotherhood and the true spirit of Islam. Abide by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and follow instructions from officials,” he stated.

The governor noted that the behaviour of pilgrims would reflect the values and image of the society they represent, urging them to remain law-abiding throughout the exercise.

He announced the donation of free Ihram materials to all intending pilgrims from the state, with samples distributed to some beneficiaries by the deputy governor during the event.

Earlier, the director-general of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Abubakar Matawalle, commended the governor for his sustained support to the board and intending pilgrims.

Matawalle disclosed that despite several challenges encountered by the board, all necessary visas for the intending pilgrims had been secured successfully.

He added that the first batch of pilgrims from Kano State would depart for Madinah on 14 May 2026.
