The governor who gave the charge during the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Interdenominational service, organised by the Benue State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in conjunction with the Benue State government, held at the Chapel of Grace, Government House Makurdi, charged the people to use the occasion to ensure peace within the state and the country, as a mark of honour to the fallen heroes.

“I am appealing to government at all levels and everyone in the society to ensure that those who served in the country’s Armed forces are well taken care of as a mark of respect and honour to them,” he said.

The governor who described the Armed Forces Remembrance Day as a day to honour the services and unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces to the security of the country, charged the people to use the occasion to ensure peace within the state and the country, as a mark of honour to the fallen heroes.

A statement by the chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, quoted the governor as calling for sustained prayers for the families of the deceased officers, saying their bravery and sacrifices was to ensure that the rest of the citizens of the country are safe.

Earlier, the Benue State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Most.  Rev. Wilfred Anagbe, said the Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day, holds a special place in the heart of every Nigerian, especially as it reminds the people of the selfless sacrifices members of the Armed forces offered to the country.

Anagbe who is also the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Makurdi called for prayers for the deceased officers, particularly those still in service as they continue to keep the country secured.

In a sermon, the Archbishop of the All Nations Evangelism Ministries, Yimam Orkwar, who preached on forgiveness said as Benue people and Nigerians, there is need for all citizens to stand for each other in unity and love, praying and seeking for one another’s forgiveness.
