Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State yesterday presented the 2025 appropriation bill of N526,882,142,484.39 to the state House of  Assembly for passage.

The budget tagged: “Transformational and Infrastructural Budget” consists of  N176,295,602,130.14  for recurrent expenditure and N349,386,540,354.25 for capital expenditure.

According to the proposal, education sector has the highest allocation of about 25 percent followed by health, works, agriculture, among others.

The governor also announced the allocation of funds for the commencement of  payment of the new minimum wage effective from January, 2025.

“I hereby inform you that all the projects we have executed, we did not borrow a single kobo from any financial institutions and to date, we are not owing any contractor in the state,” he said.
