Yobe State governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has awarded contracts for the supply of motorcycles, tricycles, cooking oil containers and charcoal stoves to boost economic activities, promote self-reliance and support small-scale businesses.
The contract signing was held at the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment, and Employment Generation, presided over by the commissioner, Aji Yerima Bularafa, in Damaturu, the state capital.
He said the ceremony marked another milestone in the Buni administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance wealth creation and economic empowerment for youths, women and cooperatives.
Bularafa appreciated Governor Buni’s unwavering commitment to empowering the people through practical initiatives.
He also emphasised transparency, accountability, and timely delivery as key principles guiding the execution of the contracts, adding that the ministry would monitor the implementation to ensure value for money.
Under the agreement, Marwez Limited will supply 100 units of BAJAJ/BOXER motorcycles and 80 units of AGRO pickup tricycles to support small-scale entrepreneurs, farmers and youth cooperatives in Yobe’s 17 local government areas.
Gnifarm and Agricultural Allied Products will supply 1,780 gallons of 10-litre customised cooking oil containers to support women’s cooperatives and small businesses engaged in food processing and distribution.
In addition, Hakly Nigeria Limited is supplying 4,500 advanced customised charcoal wood stoves to promote cleaner energy use, reduce environmental impact and empower food vendors with affordable, energy-efficient tools.
In his remarks, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Alhaji Inuwa Usman Yaroro, commended the contractors for their partnership and assured them that the ministry would maintain strict supervision to ensure quality and timely delivery.
He reiterated Governor Buni’s commitment to sustainable wealth creation, poverty reduction and economic resilience across the state.
