Yobe State governor Mai Mala Buni has commended the security agencies for keeping the peace in the state.
Governor Mai Mala disclosed this during a routine joint security meeting at the Government House, Damaturu, the state capital.
The governor was represented by his deputy, Idi Barde Gubana who said it was pertinent to review the security situation in the state.
He assured that security is continuously improving in and around Yobe State and that they are now free and safe to engage in their farming activities without any fear.
He said the purpose of the meeting was to review the security situation as the rainy season is approaching.
Gubana said there was a need for maximum security collaboration to ensure a peaceful farming season among the farmers and herders.
He commended the security agencies for their efforts in ensuring peace, law, and order in the state.
The meeting appreciated the efforts of traditional rulers and community leaders in conflict resolution in their various domains.
After the meeting, the state commissioner of police Ahmad Garba promised that security agencies would intensify surveillance and patrol activities in their areas to stop the menace of herders-farmers clashes and other criminal activities.
He appealed to the people to continue to support security personnel and provide necessary information to continue to enjoy relative peace in the state.
The secretary to the state government (SSG), the special adviser on security matters, and other heads of security agencies attended the meeting.
