Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has flagged off a two-day Stakeholders Engagement Meeting on the Domestication of the Gombe State Youth Policy, marking another milestone in the state’s commitment to youth inclusion in governance.
The Governor was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.
The engagement forms part of the Naija Youth Fund, supported project titled “Empowering Youth to Drive Youth Policy Implementation for Inclusive Governance in Gombe State.”
The initiative is jointly organized by the Gombe State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, UNFPA, and the Foundation for Community Empowerment Initiative (FOCEI), all working together to ensure young people in Gombe are active participants in shaping policies that affect their lives.
Speaking at the opening, Prof. Njodi reiterated the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and participatory governance, noting that the domestication of the policy would provide a structured framework for addressing youth-related issues such as employment, education, health, and innovation.
“The future of our state rests on the shoulders of our young people. This engagement reaffirms our belief that when youth are empowered and given a voice, governance becomes truly people-driven,” Prof. Njodi said.
Representatives of UNFPA and FOCEI commended the Gombe State Government for its proactive approach, stressing that the policy would serve as a model for institutionalizing youth participation in governance.
The two-day meeting features interactive sessions and validation exercises aimed at aligning the Gombe State Youth Policy with national priorities and global best practices.
