For too long, retired civil servants in Gombe State languished in the shadows of neglect, their gratuity payments deferred, their hopes deferred, and their livelihoods uncertain. The preceding administrations, burdened by administrative lethargy, failed to heed their cries, leaving behind a staggering backlog of over 21 billion naira in gratuity arrears.

However, in 2019, a transformative force emerged in the form of Governor Inuwa Yahaya. Recognizing the plight of these unsung heroes, he came up with a marshal plan to right the wrongs of the past, to restore dignity to those who dedicated their lives to public service.

Under his astute leadership, the administration embarked on a remarkable journey, steadily reducing the gratuity arrears from 21 billion naira to a mere 7 billion naira. The recent disbursement of over 5.4 billion naira in gratuity arrears to State and Local Government retirees stands as a testament to Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s unwavering resolve to uplift the lives of the forgotten.

This injection of funds into the economy not only alleviates the financial burdens of the retirees but also serves as a catalyst for socio-economic development amidst the prevailing economic hardships. The ripple effects of this compassionate act will reverberate across the state, stimulating growth, and fostering a sense of optimism among the populace.
