Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has approved the appointment of management for the two newly established agencies in the state.
The agencies include the Taraba State Environmental Sanitation Agency and the Taraba State Livestock Development Commission.
A statement on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps, in Jalingo disclosed that the Director General of Operation Keep Taraba Clean, Mr Iliya Kefas, was appointed as the Chairman of the State Environmental Sanitation Agency, while Ahmed Dansuleiman, Asendele Azyinta, and Nicodemus Suleiman are representing the Northern, Southern and the Central Zones respectively.
Other members of the agency include representatives from the Ministries of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning; Social Development and Human Services; Waste Management; Justice; Environment and Rural and Urban Development; Agriculture and Food Security; Information and Orientation; and Health.
The agency also has representatives of the traditional institution, religious bodies, Taraba State Marshal and Security Guards, persons living with disability, private security companies operating in the state, traders’ union, Taraba State Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Association of Nigeria (TASCOMAN), civil society organisation working on environment protection and sanitation, and the 16 local government area coordinators, among others.
For the Taraba State Livestock Development Commission, Dr Dauda Abubakar Muhammad has been appointed as the Chairman, with other members of the Commission including Dr Tirmidhi Aliyu Baba, Bujuje Akape Danjuma, and Dr Aisha Bashir Ardo.
Also serving as members of the Commission are representatives of selected ministries, departments, agencies, and unions, among others, who are not below the rank of a Director.
The ministries include Finance, Budget and Economic Planning; Agriculture and Food Security; Health; Justice; Environment and Climate Change; Education; Commerce, Trade and Industry.
Others are Taraba Geographic Information System, TAGIS, Taraba State Marshal and Security Guards, Nigeria Police, Myetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, All Farmers Association of Nigeria and Cattle Breeders.
According to the statement, three persons, at least one of whom should be a female, are to represent livestock farmers, butchers, traditional rulers of farmers’ associations, as well as livestock and crop farmers’ associations on the commission.
Kataps said th subject to their confirmation by the Taraba State House of Assembly.
