A representative of the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Senator Saliu Mustapha, the executive chairman of Federal Character Commission, Dr Muibat Dankaka and a former governorship aspirant in the state, Alh Yahaya Seriki were among the dignitaries that attended the fidau of the eleventh Balogun Gambari of Ilorin, Alh AbdulKareem Laaro Buhari in Ilorin yesterday.
The governor was represented by his special adviser ( Special Duties), Alh Razaq Jiddah who was accompanied by the senior adviser/ counselor, Alh Saadu Salahu, the non executive director of NNPCL, Dr Ghali Alaaya and the special adviser on Media, Alh Bashir Adigun.
The fidau, which the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Solihu, led alongside front line Islamic scholars was also attended by two members of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Yinka Aluko (Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency) and Raheem Olawuyi Ajulopin (Ekiti/Ireodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency).
The late eleventh Balogun Gambari of Ilorin is the father of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Mal. Tunji Buhari, who is also a one-time state Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Kwara State.
At the event also were the grand Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Suleiman Onikijipa; Chief of Staff, Government House, Ilorin, Alh Mahe Abdulkadir; a retired grand Kadi of the state Shariah Court of Appeal, Justice Saliu Muhammad, a former Nigeria Ambassador to Netherlands, Dr Nimota Akanbi, and the director general, Michael Imoudu
National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Ilorin, Comrade Issa Aremu, among others.
In a brief sermon, the grand Mukadam of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaiman Dan-Borno, urged holders of power to always reflect on the time when they were nobody.
He enjoined those who have had their status elevated in the society not to get swayed with the euphoria of their present status.
He called on wealthy people to know that charity begins at home, saying that they need to be appreciated at home before attracting public accolades.
He also advised citizens to adhere to the instructions of their leaders so long that they do not contravene the dictates of the Almighty God .
