Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed has approved the reconstitution of the university’s governing council in a move to reposition Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau (SAZU), for academic excellence and institutional growth.
LEADERSHIP Friday reports that the council’s reconstitution followed the submission of the Visitation Panel Report, which assessed the institution’s current state of affairs.
Governor Mohammed, in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mukhtar Gidado, said the reconstitution underscored the administration’s commitment to improve governance and sustainable development in the state’s tertiary education sector.
He said Prof. Gambo Laraba Abdullahi, a distinguished academic and seasoned educationist, will chair new Governing Council.
Gidado noted that her appointment is expected to usher in a new era of reform and innovation at the university.
Other members of the newly reconstituted council include Alhaji Suleiman Abdulkadir, Professor Isa Yashi, Professor Sabo Hamma, Professor Mohammed Babangida, Comfort Audu, a representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and a representative from the Office of the Head of Civil Service, Bauchi State.
Governor Bala Mohammed charged the new council leadership to collaborate closely with the university’s management and relevant stakeholders to transform Sa’adu Zungur University into a true centre of excellence and innovation.
He congratulated Professor Abdullahi and her colleagues on their well-deserved appointments and wished them success in their “important and challenging assignment.”
