Delta State governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has directed local government chairmen to execute landmark projects before the end of their tenure.
Oborevwori gave the order yesterday during the inauguration of projects in Obiaruku, Ukwuani council.
The governor, whose deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, represented at the event, stated that the legacy projects should be spread throughout their local government areas by the time they leave office.
He said his administration was pleased with the achievements of the state’s local government chairmen, who have continued to execute landmark projects in various parts of the state.
“Today, I am very happy with the achievements of Ukwuani local government council, ably led by Barr. Possible Ajede. This is not the first time we have come to the local government on his invitation to launch projects.
“Like other council chairmen in our state, right from his first tenure, we have seen schools, classroom blocks being renovated, constructed farm roads, and markets being built in various locations across the local government.
“We have seen abattoirs, Okpala-Uku palace being built, some of them already commissioned, town halls, various forms of empowerment and training programmes, especially for our youth and women, so, the chairman, Barr. Ajede has done a lot, and as a state we are very happy with his achievements.
Earlier, in his address, Ajede said the projects were products of his promises.
He said the initiative behind the 28 mini buses, termed Ukwuani Mass Transit, was to reduce the cost of transportation in the area.
