Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has pledged to partner with members of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Umuezu Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South local government area, Abia State, to rebuild their church building.
Otti spoke at a solemn thanksgiving mass service for Rev. Fr. Francisco Uzochukwu Ogbonna at the church, expressing concern over the dilapidation of the building.
He said the partnership would be funded from his personal resources, as he does not involve the latter in his private programmes, projects or activities.
While congratulating the celebrant on the occasion, he commended him for holding the thanksgiving at home, rather than in Aba or faraway London.
Otti said, “I met him through a mutual friend in 2022 when he was in the country. After spending some time with him, he prayed for me, continued to do so and encouraged me during the election.”
During the homily, Archbishop Nwachukwu described the governor as God’s precious gift to the state, commending him for his good work across the state.
In his address, the celebrant expressed gratitude to Otti for honouring the invitation, noting that that was the first time he had seen him in person and wished him well.
Ogbonna told Otti that his second term is a done deal because of his good work, saying that whoever contests against him would be disgraced in the election.
