Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Umar Dikko Radda, has applauded the Nigerian Army for striving to curtail the security challenges experienced in the state and in Nigeria.
The governor gave the commendation, when he visited the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, in his office at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday.
In a statement by the acting director of Army Public Relations, Lt-Col Appolonia Anele, Governor Radda highlighted the troops’ dedication to combating the security challenges in Katsina State.
He stressed that the significant achievements recorded in the area of security were due to the selfless sacrifice and doggedness of the troops.
The governor also appreciated the COAS’s visit to Katsina, during which he motivated the troops in all spheres and enabled them to discharge their duties effectively.
He expressed the Katsina State government’s readiness to partner with the Nigerian Army to establish an additional unit in the state to enhance security.
He also appreciated the synergy between the Katsina Watch Corps and the Nigerian Army and emphasised the cordial relationship between his administration and the 17 Brigade.
Responding, the COAS lauded the governor for the visit and assured him that the Nigerian Army under his watch would continue to make the sacrifices to secure Katsina State and the entire nation.
The COAS commended the government and the people of Katsina for their tremendous support to the Army and urged that such invaluable support be sustained.
