Katsina State governor, Malam Umaru Dikko Radda, has called on citizens, especially the younger generation, to emulate the virtues of the state’s past leaders whose sacrifices shaped Katsina’s identity and progress.
As the special guest of honour at the public presentation and launch of a book titled: ” 100 + Eminent Nigerians from Katstina State; Profiles in National Building and History”, Governor Radda praised the author for compiling a work that not only preserves history but also provides lessons in leadership and character.
“This is not just a book but something we should hold dearly to our hearts. We must study it, learn from it, and work on the good values of these eminent personalities from Katsina State,” he said.
Radda stressed that the younger generation must not lose touch with the examples of honesty, sacrifice, and service that defined Katsina’s founding fathers.
To demonstrate his commitment, Governor Radda announced that he would buy ten copies of the book for each of his children to study.
“I have ten children, and each of them will get a copy. I want them to learn from the legacies of our past leaders,” he added.
Governor Radda linked the event to the state’s 38th anniversary, celebrated only weeks earlier, reminding the audience that most students present were not born when Katsina was created.
He recalled that he was only 18 years old at the time and emphasized the need to honour those who laid the foundation of the state.
“We must thank our heroes who sacrificed their lives and everything they had to build the Katsina State we are proud of today,” he said.
The governor further expressed pride in Katsina’s heritage, attributing the state’s unity and progress to divine blessing, urging citizens to preserve the legacies of past leaders by embodying their virtues in daily life.
