Former minister of communication and digital economy, Prof Isa Ali Pantami, has unveiled a new book, titled: “A Scholar’s Journey: Navigating Academia”.
The 17-chapter and 341 pages book, which was launched yesterday in Abuja, chronicles Pantami’s journey in the academic world and his personal experiences.
The book was reviewed by the former executive secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof Abubakar Adamu Rasheed.
The dignitaries at the event included Gombe State governor Inuwa Yahaya, who launched the book with N10 million, his Nasarawa State counterpart Abdullahi Sule, the immediate past minister of works and housing, Babatunde Fashola, former governor of Gombe State, Senator Danjuma Goje, among others.
The chairman of the event and governor of Borno State Babagana Zulum said, “Pantami’s personality and integrity has never been in doubt, the former minister brought positive changes and carried out reforms in the communication and digital economy, which enabled the country to earn revenue from non-oil sectors.”
Zulum described Pantami as a diligent, hardworking leader and cleric, who with determination compiled the intellectual piece for human consumption.
He further recommended the book for everyone, particularly those who thirst for knowledge.
On his part, Pantami said the book focuses on his academic career.
He said, “I spent more than 20 years in my academic career and looking at the gap we have in Nigeria, with regards to mentorship, it became necessary for me to document my 20 years academic career, particularly to be a guide for the younger ones.”
The former minister added that while the book is about his time in academia, he is working on other books that will document his experience in public service.
