Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Wives’ Forum Board of Trustees, Mrs. Bisi Fayemi, has cautioned her colleagues against hypocrites and sycophants who seek personal gain by flattering them.

Speaking at the Governors’ Spouses’ Summit in Abuja, she advised the governors’ wives to disregard false information about their predecessors and to approach such claims with skepticism.

During the summit, wife of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Mrs. Chioma Uzodinma, delivered a lecture on protocol and etiquette.

She emphasised the importance of respecting the offices of the president, vice president and governor, urging the attendees to rise when these individuals or their spouses enter a room.

She also advised them not to complain loudly in public, to avoid chewing gum in public, and to maintain a positive image and appropriate language.

First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, spoke about office and image management, urging her colleagues to remain humble and create a positive public image.

She emphasized the need for appropriate language usage, respect for privacy and  establishment of boundaries.

First lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Bagudu, stressed the importance of aligning their programs with the state government’s agenda for seamless implementation.

She encouraged the governors’ wives to consider the cultural and religious aspects of their states when setting priorities and engaging stakeholders.

The wife of governor of Edo State, Betsy Obaseki, reminded her colleagues that they were placed in their positions by God to improve people’s lives and contribute to societal good.

She cautioned against using sirens unnecessarily and emphasized the need to avoid oppressing the people.

The summit was attended by the wives of both re-elected and newly elected governors, including Mrs. Olufolake Abdulrazak and Mrs. Edith Okowa, wives of the governors of Kwara and Delta states as well as Mrs. Hurriya Lawal, wife of the governor-elect of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.
