A governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Alhaji Kashim Musa Tumsah (KMT) has donated 16 KVA solar-powered panels to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat.
The chairman of NUJ Yobe State Council, Comrade Rajab Mohammed Isma’il, stated this when he inspected the installation of the facility in Damaturu.
He said the aspirant kept his promise and provided power at the press centre for its daily activities.
Isma’il said that when Tumsah came to Damaturu for his political engagement a couple of weeks ago, he visited the centre and promised to support the union with a solar-powered system.
“He fulfilled his promise and this is one of the qualities of a good leader”, he said.
The chairman thanked the aspirant for the donation which he said would address the challenges of insufficient electricity at the secretariat and its multi-purpose hall.
Tumsah, a development advocate, was at the secretariat to parley with journalists during the engagement when he discovered that a gasoline generator powering the facility was overwhelmed.
He promised to donate solar panels, noting that information dissemination is impossible without electricity to power gadgets and electrical equipment used by the journalists.
