The General Overseer (GO) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has lamented that government has been neglecting rural areas for urban areas to build hospitals.

According to a report by The Nation, Adeboye spoke at the commissioning of the Jennifer Etuh Medical Centre and Skills Acquisition Centre in his Ifewara hometown in Atakunmonsa West Local Government Area of Osun State.

He also said that building a hospital in his native Ifewara has been a burden in his heart for decades.

According to him: “Government is only building hospitals in big towns, they can build in Ife, Ilesha, neglecting rural areas. It has been a burden in my heart for a very long time to establish a hospital in Ifewara, I know that we are not big but I am confident that we are going to be big. I tried for its establishment but it was a very big task for me.

“I attempted establishing it along Atori but it was a very big task for me. But, there is a saying that the cow that doesn’t have tail will rely on God to chase away flies. When God will have it, one of my dearest daughters in my church, Jennifer, fell sick and I prayed and fasted for her to be healed but she died. Before her death, she documented that she wanted them to build six hospitals which this town is included. I don’t have much money to build this kind of structure, they have built this kind of structure.”

Speaking about the medical centre, the chairman of Jennifer Etuh Foundation, Thomas Etuh, said the medical centre was the desire of his late wife to build from proceeds of her investments because she did not want people to pass through what she went through.

Ettuh said: “To the Glory of God and because of the untiring commitment of the Jennifer Etuh Foundation, this is the third hospital being commissioned. We commissioned the first on her second-year remembrance in January of 2022 in Odu in Kogi state. It was one of the locations she had specified, which is my home town. We commissioned the second one in Kagoro, Kaduna State which is her own home town.”
