Ahead of the 2027 general elections a group under the auspices of Anambra Patriots has unveiled plans to mobilise the people to support credible leadership, good governance and accountability.

The group, which launched its new secretariat at Awka Trade Centre in Awka, Anambra State, called on members and supporters to actively participate in promoting good governance, transparency and accountability across the state.

Addressing the co-ordinators in the 21 LGAs and 326 wards in the state during the opening of the group’s state secretariat in Awka yesterday,  its national convener,  Okey Ezeobi,   emphasised that political participation, good governance, accountability and inclusiveness were crucial in democratic system.

Ezeobi  commended the co-ordinators for their efforts during the re-election of the state governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, noting that the group played a crucial role in mobilising the grassroots across all wards who participated in the election.

He declared the group’s support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the coming 2027 general election.

He praised the Tinubu administration stating that the government had executed some projects in the South East, particularly in the area of infrastructure development.

Ezeobi, however, stressed the need for greater political inclusion of Ndi Igbo in national governance.

Noting that though the region has strong commercial influence, he advised that it must strengthen political alliances to secure meaningful representation in federal leadership.

He said that the group’s secretariat will also serve as a centre for the ongoing All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)’s membership registration saying that the gesture is to help strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and encourage active participation among members.

Also speaking at the event, the  national chairman of Anambra Patriots, Ozo Ejiamatu  Damian Enekwenchi, described the secretariat launch as a major milestone.

He emphasised that the group will continue to support leaders of integrity and proven performance.

He commended the ward and local government coordinators for their dedication and urged them to remain committed to promoting good governance.

In his remarks, the special adviser to Governor Soludo on Political Matters, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, praised the group for its organisational strength and consistency, stating that the activities of support groups help deepen political participation and strengthen grassroots mobilisation.

He described the Patriots as one of the active support groups in the state and encouraged members to sustain their support for the administration.

In his goodwill message, the traditional ruler of Umueri, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Ben Emeka, applauded members for remaining steadfast even after elections and advised coordinators to continue promoting unity and development in their communities.
