Ahead of the 2027 general election, the South East chapter of the pro-Tinubu group, Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN), has called on Ndigbo to support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid.
The Deputy National Leader (South East) of RHGN, Mazi Franklin Ngoforo, made the call during a press conference in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Thursday.
Ngoforo said the group had established a 50-member “Booth Army” in every polling unit across the South East to mobilise support for President Tinubu and monitor votes cast during the election.
He also announced the establishment of campus wings in tertiary institutions across the region to mobilise students in support of the group’s activities.
According to him, the group has also created market wings in major markets across the South East, saying traders remain an important constituency in the region’s economy and public affairs.
Ngoforo urged traditional rulers, market leaders, professionals, clergy, students and youths in the region to support
President Tinubu’s re-election bid, arguing that the South East should take advantage of what he described as the opportunities presented by the current administration.
He said the organisation had put in place structures from the ward level to polling units, campuses and markets to mobilise support ahead of the 2027 election.
“We have established structures across the South East and remain committed to mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Our target is to secure four million votes for him in the region in the 2027 presidential election,” he said.
Ngoforo claimed that President Tinubu had initiated moves toward the creation of an additional state for the South East, ensured implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), and increased allocations to states.
He also said the establishment of the South East Development Commission reflected the administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructure deficits and development challenges in the region.
The RHGN leader further claimed that security had improved across the South East under the Tinubu administration, adding that incidents of killings, kidnappings and Monday sit-at-home disruptions had reduced.
He called on the people of the South East to rally behind the President’s re-election bid, saying the region should participate actively in the 2027 electoral process.
