The Northern Emancipation Network has strongly condemned Frank Tietie for his recent comments regarding the clash between Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle and Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The network asserts that Tietie’s remarks lack credibility.
Suleiman Abbah, the Chairman of the Northern Network, responded succinctly, stating that Tietie’s claims are as false lacks credibility.
Abbah further expressed, “We have observed the influx of comments since Governor Bello Matawalle challenged the EFCC chairman to uphold the integrity of his position and avoid selective actions, as required by the agency’s governing legislation. The most recent comment comes from a public analyst named Frank Tietie, who came in defense of the EFCC and its Chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa.”
“The individual mistakenly assumed that Matawalle should have presented the evidence he possesses to a biased public, rather than to a competent court of law,” added Abbah. He highlighted a lack of knowledge regarding criminal justice procedures, emphasizing that an allegation by Matawalle alone is sufficient to initiate a thorough investigation, which would ultimately require substantial evidence in court.
Tietie intentionally or unknowingly failed to mention the circumstances that recently led a court of law to hold Bawa in contempt during an investigation involving multimillion-dollar scandals implicating the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
Furthermore, they failed to identify any legitimate concerns with an individual reminding a vital government agency like the EFCC of its obligations under the law.
The Northern Emancipation Network expressed deep concern over the rise of individuals polluting the media landscape with baseless and sensational content, simply for personal gain. They firmly believe that any rational and responsible Nigerian would support Matawalle or any other leader who dares to point out the numerous inconsistencies and contradictions within the EFCC or any government agency.
