The Detola Abike Mogaji Memorial Foundation (DAMMF) has once again proven its steadfast commitment to grassroots empowerment by partnering with the Elite Club of Odogbolu and the Dr. Bakare Health Foundation to deliver a landmark medical outreach during the 2025 Odogbolu Heritage Festival in Ogun State.
For years, DAMMF has championed initiatives aimed at improving the lives of Odogbolu residents, focusing particularly on the elderly, vulnerable families, women, and children.
This year’s programme further strengthened that legacy, providing essential medical interventions that community members described as timely, impactful, and deeply appreciated.
Over 200 residents benefited from the outreach, receiving services that included general consultations, medications, dental care, eye exams, and referrals for corrective treatment.
Several participants underwent major surgical procedures at no cost, an opportunity many said would have been beyond their financial reach.
Held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, the outreach featured a surgical mission co-led by Dr. Lateef Bakare of the Dr. Bakare Health Foundation and Dr. Adeolu Olusodo of Atayese Hospital.
Surgeries carried out included the removal of breast lumps and an atrophied testis with hydrocele. The medical team confirmed that all procedures were successful and that patients were already responding positively to post-operative care.
Beyond medical services, elderly residents were provided with food support, broadening the humanitarian impact of the initiative.
Many beneficiaries expressed heartfelt gratitude, describing the outreach as “a blessing,” “a rare kindness,” and proof that the Heritage Festival truly prioritizes the people.
Speaking for DAMMF, Mr. Rasheed Mogaji, widower of the late Detola Abike Mogaji, reiterated that the foundation was founded to continue his late wife’s lifelong mission of uplifting the vulnerable.
He highlighted DAMMF’s consistent grassroots efforts in Odogbolu, which include free medical outreaches, food palliative distributions, youth talent development, skills training, educational support initiatives, excursions, and welfare programmes for children.
According to him, the Heritage Festival once again offered an opportunity to put the community first, and the residents’ appreciation motivates the foundation to expand its support even further.
Also, Chief Tunde Bakare, President of the Elite Club of Odogbolu, praised the introduction of surgical services as a historic milestone for the club’s annual outreach.
He stated that while the club’s mission has always been to improve local lives, this year’s programme exceeded expectations. He also expressed gratitude to Odogbolu Local Government, led by Dr. Tunde Diya, and all partners, Atayese Hospital, Dr. Lateef Bakare, DAMMF, and others, for ensuring the event’s success.
Lead surgeon Dr. Lateef Bakare also shared his pride in contributing to his hometown, describing the experience as deeply fulfilling.
He encouraged youths from Odogbolu worldwide to maintain ties with their roots and actively participate in building the community they envision
