A group, the Good Governance Initiative, (GGI) has described as a welcome development the reports from the North-East stating victory over insurgents in the region.
Recall that the Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum, recently said there is no community in the state that is still under the control of Boko Haram insurgents, stating that the security situation has improved by over 85 per cent.
Similarly, the Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Ali Ndume, said the issue of Boko Haram has come and gone.
Also, another recent report confirmed a gradual restoration of peace in the popular Dikwa Night Market and the entire town sacked in 2014 and 2016 by Boko Haram insurgents.
However, reacting to the developments in a press release on Wednesday, GGI President, Adeniyi Osho, said the confirmation of victory over terrorists was a testimony that the sacrifices of the Armed Forces of Nigeria were not in vain.
GGI attributed the good news coming out from the region to the dedication of officers and men of the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the leadership of Gen. C.G. Musa.
GGI expressed joy on the gradual restoration of peace in the popular Dikwa Night Market and the entire North-East and expressed confidence that with ongoing military operations, the people of the region will soon experience total peace.
GGI further urged the Nigerian media to spread messages of hope, while building the confidence of troops engaged in operations across the country.
According to GGI, “At this time, patriotism is needed to make the victory of our troops over the insurgents total.”
