A political pressure group, Kaura Good Job, has declared its support for Bauchi State governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, over his decision to remain in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing calls for him to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group also condemned what it described as the reckless use of terrorism allegations by some government officials against prominent individuals, warning that such claims could further inflame tensions at a time when the country is battling serious security challenges.
At a solidarity rally organised in support of the governor in Bauchi, the chairman of Kaura Good Job, Yakubu Babayo, said Governor Mohammed deserved commendation from Nigerians for his efforts in promoting peace in Bauchi State and the wider North-East, as well as for his contributions to the strengthening of democratic governance in the country.
Babayo noted that the governor had adopted deliberate strategies to tackle insecurity, particularly through the creation of job opportunities for unemployed youths, stressing that gainful employment remained one of the most effective tools for reducing crime.
“We organised this gathering to express our concern and register our displeasure over the unfounded allegations against our governor,” Babayo said. “Governor Bala Mohammed is a man of peace, and we will not allow anyone to malign his pedigree.”
He accused some political actors of attempting to import what he termed “Abuja-style politics” aimed at destabilising democracy, alleging that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was central to such moves.
Earlier, the chairman of People Development, People Hardo Ward, Auwalu Ibrahim, commended members of the group for their steadfastness and urged them to remain loyal to the PDP despite what he described as intimidation and political pressure.
Ibrahim said the PDP remained the only party that truly understood and represented the interests of the masses, arguing that successive PDP-led administrations had consistently delivered development to ordinary Nigerians.
He further alleged that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, alongside its political allies, was seeking to weaken the PDP through intimidation and the deployment of anti-graft agencies against opposition figures.
Ibrahim called on voters to always support leaders with courage and integrity, citing Governor Mohammed as an example of a leader who stood firmly by his convictions.
