A rights group, Rising-Up for a United Nigeria (RUN) has mobilized civil society and youth groups against the activities of oil thieves and saboteurs who are bent on disrupting economic activities in the oil and gas sector of the Nigerian economy. The group took it’s protest to the headquarters of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited) in Abuja.

Addressing journalists at the gate of NNPC Limited towers during the solidarity match, the group’s national convener, Solomon Adodo alongside leaders of other civil society and youth groups warned those who are bent on subverting the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to steer clear or face the wrath of Nigerians.

Adodo who accused oil thieves and saboteurs of derailing Nigeria’s economy through the recent reforms of sponsored protests against the NNPC Limited and its management, urged Nigerians to support the reforms of the government that are gradually yielding results which will soon be felt by the masses.

“The needless protest such as the one witnessed today at the NNPCL Towers is directly as a result of the reforms in the Oil and Gas sector especially the removal of fuel subsidy which has seen remarkable improvement in revenue and the provision of basic services to teeming Nigerians. Those whose corrupt schemes have been thwarted are fighting back but we cannot allow them to succeed. We stand to resist them with every legal means within our powers.

“NNPC Limited under Mele Kyari has been repositioned and reformed to align with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed which has led to a seamless supply of petroleum products all over the country.

“Anybody sponsoring thugs to disrupt activities at the NNPCL Towers is nothing but a criminal who hopes to disrupt economic activities in the country and benefit from the chaos that might ensue since there is no known reason why anybody should be protesting at one of Nigerians must effective agency,” he said.

The group called on all Nigerians, especially the youth “to stand firm and support the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed and Mele Kyari whose performance has endeared him to Mr. President so that Nigeria’s energy crisis will be solved once and for all. The era of oil theft and all forms of sabotage is over. Nigerians cannot be deceived into taking arms against an innocent man because he has effectively blocked criminals from looting our commonwealth”.
