A group of Nigerians had a business agreement with a Chinese company based in China, Plusp Group of Company Ltd, situated in Lanshan District, Linyinshadan, China, to the tune of $218,280 (N362,344,800) for the company to supply some products to them in Nigeria.
However, the agreement has not been met five years after, for which the Nigerian group petitioned the Chinese Embassy, seeking the refund of their money.
The Nigerian businessmen under the auspices of Amalsco Industries, who are overseen by the Kano Council of Traders and Entrepreneurs, stated in the petition that, while in China, they entered into trade agreement with an agent of the Plusp group, one Mr Zhu on 7th January 2018.
They purchased some products from the company and paid cash $218,280 but five years after, they have refused to supply the products.
The Nigerian business group link man, Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa, said in the petition, that this is not the first time they are conducting businesses with China, and that they have been doing business successfully without any hitches, but this company, Plusp had been an exception.
He said they have been to China over three times on the matter, but the company kept promising that they would supply the products. Up until now, nothing has been sent to them, and Mr. Zhu is not responding to their calls.
“That is why we Petition the Chinese Embassy through the Commercial Affairs of China here in Nigeria and also petition the Nigeria Embassy in China, for them to jointly trace the company and either compel them to supply us with our goods or pay us back our money,” he said.
Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa, explained that they also used the Kano Council of Traders and Entrepreneur’s Union, to facilitate the refund of their money, “because the $218,280 was a conglomerate joint money of individuals who put money together for purchase of goods instead of going to China individually and the goods are supplied to them.
“We are enjoying sound excellent trade relationship with China, we have never been betrayed, our businesses were so smooth not until we go into trade agreement with this company and through their Agent Mr. Zhu.
“That is why we are hoping that the Chinese Embassy and indeed the Chinese Government will act urgently on this matter to safeguard their hard-earned integrity and image, by tracing the Company which we know where they are and we have all the backup documents to show our sincerity in this agreement,” he stated.
In the same vein, the Nigerian traders appealed to the Nigerian Embassy in China to cooperate with the Chinese Embassy in acting on the matter, promising to supply all the necessary documents.
