Demonstrating a commitment to community welfare and inclusivity, the Young Professionals for Tinubu (YP4T) has successfully distributed more than 2,000 bags of rice to families, widows, and Muslim worshippers in police barracks across Lagos.

This initiative, carried out in celebration of Eid, aimed to support vulnerable groups and strengthen communal ties through targeted food assistance.

The distribution effort spanned key barracks communities, including Ikeja, Ilupeju, Surulere, Ojuelegba, and Bariga, ensuring that no household was left behind. YP4T volunteers collaborated closely with mosque leaders and local resident associations to facilitate an organized and respectful delivery of essential food supplies. Special attention was given to widows and other disadvantaged individuals, reinforcing the organization’s dedication to inclusive social impact.

Speaking on the initiative, the national coordinator of YP4T,  Alex Oware, emphasized the group’s mission of fostering a supportive society, adding that “Eid is a time for unity, generosity, and reflection.

Through this distribution, we want to remind people that they are valued and not alone. Providing food is just one way to uplift communities, and we remain committed to continuous grassroots engagement that improves lives.”

The distribution was met with heartfelt appreciation from recipients, with many highlighting the importance of such gestures in sustaining families during the festive period. A widow in Surulere expressed her gratitude, saying, “This food will help my children and me celebrate Eid with joy. It means so much to us to know that people care.”

Mosque leaders also lauded YP4T’s thoughtful intervention, noting how the initiative fostered a spirit of togetherness. In several locations, the distributed rice was shared communally following prayers, reinforcing bonds among residents.

As part of its broader commitment to social welfare, YP4T has consistently championed grassroots development programs. Earlier this year, the organization provided free healthcare services to over 2,000 residents in Ikeja, alongside food relief and financial support. Looking ahead, YP4T plans to launch an educational grant program for final-year secondary school students nationwide, underscoring its belief that sustainable development begins with empowering people at all levels.

Through initiatives like this, YP4T continues to set a precedent for community-driven progress, demonstrating that small acts of kindness can collectively foster a more inclusive and resilient society.
