Signs of disaffection are becoming more pronounced as the leader of Concerned Members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, Prof Hamza Maishanu, has refuted the allegation made by the chairman of PDP in the state, Alhaji Bello Goronyo that in the group are moles planted by opponents to destroy the party in the state.

Dousing the tension, the PDP Publicity Secretary in the state, Hassan Sannyinawal said, “PDP is a big family and with time it will resolve its problem.”

Prof Maishanu who was a governorship aspirant of the party in 2019 before stepping down for Senator Aminu Tambuwal, noted that the group represents a broad spectrum of party members across the nooks and crannies of the state.

He stated that severally, they sought an audience with the party chairman to seek clarifications about his utterances during the party’s stakeholders’ meeting held in the state recently but he declined.

“We are requesting Bello Goronyo to tell us those who are contracted to sow a seed of destruction in the PDP.

“If his utterance is intended to spread unfounded rumours to create a wedge among party members in order to appropriate the party for selfish interest, it would be resisted with vigour.

“We members of the group are democrats and would resist the appointment of party EXCOS instead of election by the party members.”
