To expand access to healthcare education for underprivileged children and to strengthen local capacity, the Bafarawa Give Back Initiative, in partnership with the Islamic Education Trust (IET), has sponsored new medical students at two prominent health institutions in Sokoto State.

The beneficiaries are currently enrolled at Caliphate College of Health Technology and Alhuda College of Health Technology, two institutions recognised for training skilled healthcare professionals in the region.

Through this intervention, the group has fully covered tuition fees for the sponsored students for the entire three-year duration of their academic programs.

The financial support aims to ease the burden on low-income families and ensure that deserving students with a passion for healthcare are not denied opportunities due to economic hardship.

The sponsorship programme highlights the Bafarawa Give Back Initiative’s dedication to youth empowerment, educational advancement, and long-term improvements in the healthcare sector across Sokoto and beyond.

Speaking on the development, chairman of the Initiative, Malam Muhammadu Lawal Maidoki, explained that the partnership with IET was borne out of a shared commitment to community upliftment through education and moral development.

“This initiative goes beyond tuition support; it is a long-term investment in the future of our youth and the healthcare system.

“The students were carefully selected based on merit, community needs, and academic performance,” Maidoki said.

Parents and guardians of the sponsored students expressed deep gratitude, describing the support as a lifeline, amidst ongoing economic hardship.

Officials from Caliphate and Alhuda Colleges praised the sponsorship, calling it timely and impactful, especially at a time when financial challenges have led to declining student enrollment in many institutions.

A senior representative from the Islamic Education Trust reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to working with credible partners like the Bafarawa Give Back Initiative to promote education and social progress, particularly in underserved communities.

Founded by former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, the Initiative continues to implement transformative programmes focused on youth development, skills acquisition, and community empowerment.

This latest intervention is expected not only to increase the number of trained healthcare professionals in Sokoto but also to serve as a model for other well-meaning individuals and organisations seeking to make lasting impacts through strategic investments in education.
