Group Targets 15,000 Northern Youths For Tinubu’s Re-election

A support group, Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), has launched a grassroots mobilisation drive in Taraba State, targeting at least 15,000 youths, women, students, elders and traditional rulers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

The group, which made the declaration at a rally in Takum, Taraba State, said it was working towards delivering the highest number of votes ever recorded in Northern Nigeria for Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.

The deputy coordinator, Youth Affairs of A4A, Comrade Murtala Mohammed Gamji, who spoke at the launch of the initiative, said the mobilisation would cover the state, local government areas, wards and polling units, with a house-to-house campaign strategy.

Gamji, a former president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), said the group had the backing of northern elders, former governors, former ministers and APC stalwarts from the north.

“We are here to mobilise at least 15,000 youths, women, students, elders and royal fathers to galvanise support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, from the state level down to local governments, wards and polling units.
“It will be a man-to-man, house-to-house and room-to-room campaign for Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.

The A4A leader said, the group’s support for Tinubu was based on the president’s interventions in education, security and infrastructure as well as the role of Northerners in strategic positions within the federal government.

He specifically cited Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu and Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, among Northerners holding key positions in the administration.

Comrade Gamji also cited the Sokoto-Badagry highway and security formations in Taraba as evidence of federal government’s interventions in the region.

He urged the president to intensify efforts towards national unity and security, while calling on political leaders to avoid ethnic and religious divisions.

“Morally, Northern Nigeria needs to fulfil this gentleman’s agreement with Southern Nigeria, under the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enable him to complete his eight years,” Ganji said.

He added that, A4A would deploy grassroots mobilisation across communities ahead of the 2027 polls, insisting that the group would work to secure unprecedented vote tally for Tinubu in Northern Nigeria.

Also speaking, the Secretary of Youth Affairs for A4A, Dunya Adi, canvassed continuity in government, arguing that ongoing infrastructure projects and federal government programmes required sustained implementation.

Adi listed, the Mambilla Power Project, Lagos-Badagry Expressway and NELFUND student loan scheme among programmes that should be sustained.

He also defended the removal of fuel subsidy, saying the policy had released funds for development, and urged political actors not to promise its reversal for electoral purposes.

“We are not fighting anyone, we are campaigning peacefully and we encourage others to do the same,” Adi said.

The APC chairman in Takum local government, Hon. Sirajo Sallau, also expressed support for the Tinubu administration, citing interventions in primary schools, through the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

Sallau said the interventions had strengthened support for the administration at the grassroots.
