The APC Northern Youths Merger Group has urged  ministers in President Bola Tinubu’s administration to emulate his son, Seyi Tinubu, in actively engaging and supporting the youth.

The group’s national coordinator, Comrade Musa Mujahid Zaitawa, in a statement, expressed appreciation to the president through Seyi for his willingness to listen to their concerns, which was facilitated by his media advisor, Sunday Dare.

The group highlighted its ongoing efforts in combating drug abuse and rape in the North, noting that these issues remained critical challenges in the region. They recalled their advocacy efforts dating back to the 8th and 9th Senate when the leadership of former deputy senate president Ovie Omo-Agege played a key role in the enactment of the Anti-Rape and Anti-Drugs Act.

The group reiterated its opposition to the #EndBadGovernance protests in the North, stating that young people should not be used for destructive purposes. They noted that many youths were arrested during the protests, and they had actively engaged with prison authorities, urging President Tinubu to pardon those detained. According to them, the president’s agreement to grant clemency demonstrated his responsiveness to the concerns of northern youths.

It also commended Tinubu for prioritising the development of the North, citing the establishment of the North West Development Commission and the North Central Development Commission as crucial steps towards addressing the region’s challenges. They also welcomed the approval of key highway projects, which they said would enhance infrastructure and economic growth.

They urged the president to take additional measures to reduce the cost of fertiliser, emphasising that affordable agricultural inputs would boost food production and improve the region’s economic stability.

They also praised Nasir Bala Ja’oji, a young APC supporter dedicated to community progress despite holding no official position.

It also commended President Bola Tinubu for promoting the development of education, especially by the provision of soft loans to students. It commended the Minister of Education for efforts to ensure that the education sector continues to develop.
