Gombe Concerned Citizen Forum is urging the National Assembly to swiftly approve the appointment of Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu from Gombe State as the Chief Executive Officer and managing Director of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC). The forum emphasizes the importance of avoiding any undue delays in confirming this highly qualified nominee.

Established in 2017, the North-East Development Commission plays a critical role in the rehabilitation and development of the Northeast region of Nigeria, which has suffered greatly due to the Boko Haram insurgency. The appointment of a capable and dedicated individual like Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu is vital for effectively fulfilling the NEDC’s mission.

As Nigerians eagerly await the screening and confirmation of Dr. Umar Abubakar Hashidu as the NEDC Chairman, various groups and individuals in Gombe State have expressed their support and appreciation for President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination. In a communique signed by the association’s Council Clerk, Mubarak Aliyu, the forum commends the President for selecting Dr. Hashidu for this esteemed position.

The Gombe Concerned Citizen Forum, after its regular quarterly meeting, declares Dr. Hashidu’s appointment as the CEO/MD of the NEDC to be well-deserved. Urging the Nigerian Senate to expedite the confirmation process, the forum highlights the significance of this appointment in fostering the development of the long-neglected Northeast region. Prompt action from the Senate will allow Dr. Hashidu to assume his responsibilities without delay.

Dr. Hashidu’s vast knowledge in the power sector is regarded as a valuable asset for his role as the CEO/MD of the NEDC. The Gombe Concerned Citizen Forum expresses its gratitude to President Buhari for selecting an individual with such a relevant background. The forum believes that Dr. Hashidu’s appointment signifies the government’s commitment to uplift the Northeast region and urges the Senate to confirm him swiftly to enable him to commence his duties promptly.

The nomination of Dr. Hashidu has rekindled hope among the people of the Northeast region. The Gombe Concerned Citizen Forum commends President Buhari for appointing a candidate who is widely acknowledged as a thoroughbred professional with an impressive track record. This appointment aligns with the President’s pledge to select the best minds to drive the nation’s socio-economic progress.
