Group Wants IGP, DSS, Others To Halt Rampant Killings In Osun

A group, World Institute for Peace has called on security agencies to step up and halt the rampant killings in Osun State and bring to justice those behind mindless killings.

 

The Executive Chairman , World Institute for Peace Mr l Lamina Kamiludeen Omotoyosi at a press briefing in Abuja lamented that 10 citizens of Osogbo town have been killed in the last five months without any arrest of the perpetrators .

 

“Over the past five months, political thugs and identified hoodlums have killed more than 10 citizens of Osun.. of those perpetrators,none has been arrested and they are moving freely on the streets of Osun especially in Osogbo while whether it is rumor or genuine,some police officers are in the state who are meant to arrest them are the ones giving them back up.

“World Institute for Peace,an international organization urges security agencies in Nigeria to focus artillery and manpower to combat the recent rampant killings that has been the order of the day in the State since after the July 16 gubernatorial election by thugs and unidentified hoodlums.

 

” We implore security operatives in this country to join forces in other to make the state habitable for the February,2023 general elections,” he said

 

He accused security operatives of compromise for their in ability to arrest the situation and called on the Inspector General of Police IGP,Chief of Defence Staff,Director General Department of State Services ,the Director General National Intelligence Agency and others to nip the problem in the board.

 

He alleged ” information has it that the suspected hoodlums are doing these as preamble of their plan for the 2023 presidential election.

 

“This is not the actual time to keep silent or be indifferent, otherwise your silence would cheer these unscrupulous individuals on and they would continue in their destructive engagements which can bring up another set of terror group in the country if urgent action is not taken”, he added
