The group announced this at a national conference yesterday in Abuja, with the theme: “Improving Public Trust Between NNPCL and civil society organisations, bloggers, and the public.”

In his keynote address, the director of BAVCCA, Dr Stein Uguru, stated that strategic investments have marked Kyari’s tenure to boost Nigeria’s oil and gas production capacity and enhance national development.

He emphasised that the NNPCL group managing director’s efforts to transform the company into a more transparent and accountable entity are crucial for the nation’s progress.

Uguru, represented by Comrade Yakubu Gaida, highlighted the increase in national crude oil reserves towards the 40 billion barrel target as a testament to Dr Kyari’s focused and visionary leadership.

He also praised the NNPCL’s willingness to engage with community-based organisations in decision-making and project implementation, ensuring that initiatives are socially responsible and aligned with community needs.

Uguru stressed the importance of transparency and accountability for building trust between the NNPCL and the public.

He stressed the need for regular updates, accessible information, and mechanisms to ensure actions are taken in the public interest.

He added that civil society organisations are crucial in monitoring activities and providing checks and balances.

Alhaji Muhammed Yusuf, the president of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations, expressed his admiration for Kyari’s transformative leadership and commitment to transparency and accountability.

He commended the NNPCL’s efforts to bring unprecedented openness to its operations, earning the trust of Nigerians and the international community.

On his part, the North-Central Young Professionals Forum coordinator, Dr Okpanachi Paul, praised Dr Kyari’s commitment to human capital development in the region.

He highlighted the NNPCL’s recruitment of over a thousand graduate trainees, providing youth employment opportunities and skills development.
