The Abia State governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Henry Ikoh, and House of Representatives aspirant for Aro/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Onyeije Kalu, have rejected the outcome of the party’s primaries for the 2027 general elections in Abia State.

Ikoh, through the director-general of his campaign organisation, Ikedi Ezekwesiri, described the declaration of Eric Opah as the winner of the governorship primary as “strange, unacceptable, provocative and inconsistent” with an alleged consensus arrangement reached by a majority of the party’s State Working Committee.

The statement, titled, “The Sham Called Abia APC Governorship Primary Election and the Purported Results Announced Cannot Stand,” was signed by the former member of the State House of Assembly.

The campaign organisation alleged irregularities in the process, insisting that Ikoh, a former Minister of State for Science and Technology, remained the preferred choice of party members across the state.

Similarly, Onyeije Kalu rejected the declaration of Ikenna Ukwa as the winner of the House of Representatives primary for Aro/Ohafia Federal Constituency.

He insisted that results collated from the two local government areas in the constituency showed that he won the election.

According to him, he secured victory in eight out of the 11 wards in Arochukwu Local Government Area and seven out of the 11 wards in Ohafia Local Government Area, giving him a total of 15 out of the 22 wards in the federal constituency.

“I won 15 out of the 22 wards across the two local governments that make up the federal constituency. I am the winner,” he declared.

Despite his rejection of the outcome, Kalu thanked residents of the two local government areas for their support, trust, and confidence throughout the primary election process.
