Kaduna motorists and residents plying Sabon Tasha by express road in the metropolis are about to be cut off as gully erosion threatened the Sabon Tasha bridge.

The motorists have called on relevant state and federal government agencies responsible for road construction and maintenance to come to their rescue before the busy road collapses.

Some of the motorists and residents who spoke with our correspondent when he visited the site of the erosion expressed worry that the gully, if not urgently attended to by the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), and Kaduna State Road Agency, will collapse the Sabon Tasha dual road linking the bridge.

It observed that the road may be cut off anytime especially when trucks pass on it with heavy goods as the erosion entered half of the road at the background without being noticed by many motorists.

A commercial bus driver, Sabiu Sani, said, “Just some few months ago we started seeing this terrible erosion chopping this busy Sabon Tasha by the Express Road Bridge. I am afraid this road will collapse at any time. FERMA should quickly start work on the affected road without delay”

A resident of Sabon Tasha, Baba Fidelis,  who resides near the affected portion of the road, lamented: “Time waits for no one. Government should mobilize relevant agencies to come quickly and work on the road. The Sabon Tasha by Garage Road was under reconstruction during the time of the former governor of Kaduna State but the project was abandoned before he handed over to the new governor. If this Sabon Tasha Express Road collapses it will be difficult to go to Kaduna Central market as the Sabon Tasha by Garage Road is not good.”
