Gunmen Abduct Akwanga LG Chairman In Nasarawa

Gunmen have kidnapped the Chairman of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Mr. Safiyanu Isa Andaha, on Monday evening.

The council boss was reportedly abducted along the Andaha-Akwanga road at about 8:30 pm.

Mr. Andaha was taken alongside a renowned philanthropist from the local government, Adamu Tanko, and others whose identities could not be immediately ascertained.

 

Mr. Haruna Kassimu, the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, confirmed the incident to journalists.

He stated that the council boss was abducted at Ningo village on the Akwanga – Andaha road in the Akwanga Local Government Area.

 

Furthermore, he said that security operatives had been alerted and were actively pursuing the kidnappers in an effort to rescue the chairman and the others.

 

Attempts to confirm the incident with the police were unsuccessful as the State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, did not respond to calls made to his mobile line by our correspondent.
