A retired pastor with the Evangelical Church of Winning All (ECWA), Rev Sunday Agang, has been abducted by gunmen.
A source close to his family said the gunmen, numbering about six, invaded his residence at Farin-Gada, Jos North local government area of Plateau State, in the early hours of yesterday and whisked him away at gunpoint to an unknown destination.
The source said the gunmen arrived at the house at about 5:00 am when the family was still in bed, adding that they forced their way into the house and held the family hostage before the retired pastor was taken away.
“Before the family could raise an alarm, the kidnappers had disappeared with their victim in a car brought by the undesirable elements,” the source said.
Another source close to the headquarters of the church in Jos said the authorities have reported the incident to the appropriate authorities, adding that they were making efforts to trace the kidnappers to their hideout.
It was further learned that the kidnappers, as of the time of filing this report, had yet to get in touch with the family and the church authorities for possible ransom.
The Plateau State Command spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alago, did not respond to calls or text messages from our correspondent on the incident.
