Gunmen Attack Umahi’s Home Town, Burn Vehicles

Gunmen yesterday attacked two Ebonyi communities including the town of the former governor, burning three cars and shooting one resident.

LEADERSHIP SUNDAY gathered that the attack was carried out in Uburu, the home town of the immediate past governor of the state, David Umahi, while the second at happened in Okposi community, both in Ohaozara local government area of the state.

The incident happened at about 10pm on Friday, an eyewitness from the community said.

He said two of the cars were destroyed at Rev. J Odii’s compound at Okposi Okwu in Ohaozara.

Police spokesman, SP Onome Onovewakpoyeya, said they had commenced investigation on the incident.

She noted that the gunmen destroyed three cars while a passer-by was shot on the shoulder.

“Yes, the command is aware of the attack and investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing  suspects.

“A Sienna car and two other vehicles were burnt. A passer-by was shot at the shoulder and is receiving treatment at the hospital,” she said.
