Gunmen invaded Ngali village, Logara community in the Ngor Okpala local government of Imo state, and shot dead a community leader on Wednesday.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the community leader, Chief Monday Eke was addressing his kinsmen at the village hall when the gunmen arrived in a red camry car and shot him dead before zooming off.

A source who pleaded anonymity said the slain Chief Monday, was a tipper driver for one Anummoo from Umuohiagu.

The source said “The gunmen were heavily armed and were masked. That is why it worries everybody that there could be an insider. Just last month, a man we all know as Papa Mayor was shot and killed in his house by unknown gunmen. We don’t know what is happening in our community again”.

Recall that last week, five policemen and a couple were killed at Okpala junction, while a month ago, gunmen killed three personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps at the Eke Isu Market in Obiangwu community, both in the Ngor Okpala local government area of Imo state.
