Gunmen Kill 2 Travellers, Abduct Corps Members, Others In Ondo

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have shot two passengers dead, kidnapped five others including a Corps member along Ifon/Owo Expressway in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State

LEADERSHIP on Sunday gathered that some of the victims of the attack escaped with various degrees of wounds during the attack which occurred on Friday night.

It was further learnt that the suspected kidnappers, numbering about fifteen, armed with AK-47 rifles, ambushed commuters at about 11 pm on Friday at Omi Alafa Village in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of the state.

The situation was said to have created tension among residents and travellers along the expressway throughout the night.

A source informed our correspondent that members of the community who witnessed the incident reported to the police how commuters were ambushed by the suspected kidnappers who fired sporadically at the Sienna bus.

The source further disclosed that the attacked vehicle was coming from Anambra State with passengers heading to Owo and Akure before the hoodlums attacked them.

It was also learnt that the corpses of the driver and one of the passengers occupying the front seat, a lady, have been deposited at the morgue of Adelabu Hospital in Ifon.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Fumilayo Odunlami- Omisanya, confirmed the incident.

 

 

 

Odunlami- Omisanya said the command cannot ascertain the exact number of escaped victims as at the time of the report.

 

 

 

The PPRO hinted that, “Our men are fully on the ground, combing the forest to ensure that the kidnapped victims are rescued.”
