Gunmen on Thursday night killed the Nasarawa State coordinator of the Fadama III project, Mr. Hassan Yahaya Egwa.
The 32-year-old was killed at his residence in Angwan Mai Matasa area of Lafia, the state capital.
He was said to have been dragged out of his car by the attackers who waited in front of his residence, whisked him a few meters away from his house, killed him and went away with some of organs.
The state government condemned the murder, describing it as cowardly.
In a statement by his chief press secretary, Mr. Ibrahim Addra, Governor Abdullahi Sule said the the perpetrators would be pursued and brought to justice.
During a condolence visit to the residence of the deceased in Lafia, Governor Sule said the late Hassan was a brilliant and committed young man who gave his best to uplift the lives of the people through the NG-cares programme.
He added that his dedication, selfless service to the state and pleasant disposition would be missed.
The governor directed security agencies in the state to carry diligent investigations to pursue, fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book.
He said criminality does not have a place in the state, and urged all to shun crime while reiterating government’s resolve to prioritise security and welfare of the people.
It urged the deceased family, colleagues and friends to take solace in the many contributions of the deceased to society, while praying that Allah grant his soul eternal rest in Jannat firdausi
