Ibrahim Musa Gusau has been replaced as President of the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B following his resignation as President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The WAFU Zone B leadership has appointed Burkina Faso Football Federation president Oumarou Sawadogo as Gusau’s successor.
Gusau’s departure from the regional position comes only days after he stepped down as NFF president, bringing an end to his tenure at the helm of Nigerian football’s governing body.
Sawadogo, who heads the Burkina Faso football federation, will now take charge of the regional football body responsible for the development and administration of the game across WAFU Zone B.
The leadership change is expected to usher in a new phase for the regional body as it continues to oversee competitions and football development programmes involving its member associations.
Gusau had served as WAFU Zone B president while also leading the NFF, combining responsibilities at both national and regional levels.
His replacement means Nigeria will no longer occupy the leadership of the sub-regional football bloc, with Sawadogo assuming the role from Burkina Faso.
