The Acting Chairman of Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State, Bashir Kasim Dandago, has dissociated himself and council members from the litigation against the state government accusing it of misusing funds from the state/local government joint account.
Dandago addressed newsmen in Kano on Saturday declaring support for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s plan of infrastructural development in the state.
Recently, the Kano state government embarked on the construction of two interchanges at Tal’udu junction and Kofar Dan Agundi in the metropolis, worth N27 billion sourced from the state/local government joint account.
This followed a litigation put before an Abuja Court by the state’s chairmen of the 44 local government areas in the state accusing the state government of misusing money from the joint account.
In the wake of this, Dandago dissociates himself and Council members from the litigation saying they are not aware of it and are not part of it.
He explained that the suspended LG chairman, Khalid Ishaq Diso, who appears in the litigation, against the state government only impersonated as he is still under suspension.
“On behalf of myself and members of the Gwale Local Government Council, we wish to announce to you that we dissociate ourselves from the said litigation against the state government on the use of money from the state/local government joint account to fund the construction of interchanges at Tal’udu junction and Kofar Dan Agundi.
“We are not part of that litigation and are not also aware of it.
“It amounts to impersonation for the former local government chairman to enter into the litigation on behalf of Gwale Local Government Area when he is still under suspension, in addition to a Court order restraining him from parading himself as Gwale Local government Chairman” he stated.
The chairman therefore announced that they are going to take steps towards ensuring that their position is respected by the court, while reiterating support for the construction of the two interchanges in Kano metropolis by governor Yusuf.
He further said that, though he would not pre-empt them, there are other local government leaderships that are also in support of their stance.
